Jimee'n Jackson-Lucas grew up in East St. Louis, Il, right across the Mississippi River to St. Louis, Missouri. Upon graduating high school, Jimee'n decided to stay close to home by attending Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIUE), in Edwardsville, Il. While attending SIUE, Jimee'n decided to major in Spanish and minor in English and Anthropology. SIUE provided Jimee'n with the opportunity to travel to the following countries: Brazil, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Spain. She was also given the opportunity to work for Disney World through their college program. After Jimee'n graduated from SIUE with her Bachelors degree in Spanish and minors in English and Anthropology, she returned the following year to receive her secondary education teaching certification. Once Jimee'n completed her certification she immediately started teaching high school Spanish and English. Towards the end of her sixth year of teaching, Jimee'n finally decided to enroll in SIUE's Master's program. Jimee'n has her Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction Secondary Education: Foreign Languages. Throughout Jimee'n's career, she has always had a passion for language and reading. So, when she discovered that there was an opportunity for her to be certified as a library media specialist, she jumped at it. Jimee'n saw this as an opportunity to interact with all students, to promote the freedom to read and access information.
